A sudden sandstorm abruptly halted an ongoing flying display at the 13th Dubai Airshow which started on Sunday.

As the sandstorm intensified in the afternoon, the event's organizer F&E Aerospace announced an suspension of the flying display until further notice.

The display show, kicking off at 14:00 local time (1000 GMT), was halted after the aerobatics team Alfursan of the United Arab Emirates did flying stunts over Dubai's new airport Al-Maktoum International, which hosts the biennial airshow for the first time.

The Dubai Airshow 2013 will go through Thursday, Nov. 21.
