An earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter scale jolted 88 km south of Port Hardy, Canada on Thursday, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The epicenter, with a depth of 10 km, was initially determined to be at 49.9 degrees north latitude and 127.4 degrees west longitude.
