There may be some relief from the sweltering heat as the weather forecasters are predicting wet day today and for the week due to the effect of Typhoon Matmo.

With the high reaching 35.1 degrees Celsius at the benchmark Xujiahui weather station, the fourth yellow high temperature was issued at 1:12pm yesterday. The day was also marked as Dashu, the solar term that signifies the hottest summer period.

But Matmo’s landing on Fujian Province will ease up the sizzling condition in the neighboring regions with rains and gusts this week. Temperatures are expected to drop between 26 and 33 degrees Celsius. The soggy condition will last till early next week.
