 Haiyuan earthquake

The Haiyuan Earthquake was the largest quake recorded in China in the 20th Century with the highest magnitude and intensity. It was felt from the Yellow Sea to Qinghai Province and from Inner Mongolia south to central Sichuan Province. 



Date: Dec. 16, 1920

Province: Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region

Magnitude: 8.5 M

Epicenter: 36.50°N  105.70°E

Casualties: 288,000 dead
