One person died and scores of houses were destroyed after earthquakes hit a village in Gansu Province, local authorities said.
A 4.5-magnitude quake hit Lintao County at 3:08pm, killing one person in a village about 20 kilometers from the epicenter, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
About 30 minutes later, a 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit Alashan Left Banner in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, followed by a 4.0-magnitude aftershock five minutes later.
