A small explosion at the summit of Kilauea volcano in Hawaii was caught on camera recently by USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
A wall of the Halemaumau Crater, which contains a lava lake, collapsed at 1:20 p.m. on May 3, triggering a small spatter and a massive plume of smoke at the volcano's summit, the observatory said.
The lava lake within Halemaumau Crater has been rising and has overflowed several times since April 28.
