The 5th Kubuqi International Desert Forum will be held from July 28 to 29 to highlight eco-civilization and desertification control efforts along the "Silk Road".

With the goal to "share the value of the desert", this forum is held at its permanent venue near Seven-Star Lake in the Kubuqi Desert in Ordos, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

It’s co-organized by Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology, State Forestry Bureau, Inner Mongolian Autonomous Regional Government, United Nations Environment Programme, as well as the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification and undertaken by Ordos municipal government and Elion Public Welfare Foundation.

Unlike other events of its kind, this forum spent less time discussing topic indoors but allowed its participants to conduct field surveys to feel and discuss the desert control achievements that Kubuqi made over the past 25 years.

Mr. Wang Wenbiao, Secretary-General of the forum and president of Elion Public Welfare Foundation, said that the PPP mode is introduced to demonstrate the cooperation partnership among government, private sector, and the public in desertification control and maintains sustainability to run the forum.

Land for Life Award will be presented at this forum to honor people and actions to bring about obvious changes to sustainable development and land treatment.
