Air pollution following environmental emergencies should be monitored and details made public, according to a latest revision to the draft amendment to the Air Pollution Control Law currently under deliberation.

Environmental authorities will be responsible for both monitoring and public disclosure.

The revision was made on Friday as legislators raised such proposals at group discussions during the ongoing National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee's bi-monthly session.

Some legislators proposed adding levels of pollutants to the list of items to be made public. The addition will be put to the vote on Saturday.

A warehouse explosion in Tianjin port on Aug. 12 shocked the nation. The death toll from the incident rose to 146 on Friday with 27 others still missing.

Large mounts of toxic chemicals were stored in the warehouse, including around 700 tonnes of sodium cyanide.
