26 dead in Philippines due to Typhoon Koppu

At least 26 people have died and 18 others injured in Typhoon Koppu, locally named Lando, which made landfall in Philippines Sunday, said the country's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council on Wednesday.

The agency said 194,387 families or 907,267 people were affected by the typhoon in its latest report.

According to the report, a total of 140 road sections and 28 bridges are not passable due to flooding and landslides. Power interruptions were reported in nine cities and 73 municipalities.

A total of 261 passengers, 37 vessels, 47 motorized bancas, and 13 rolling cargoes are still stranded due to rough sea condition caused by the typhoon.

The estimated cost of damages to agriculture and infrastructure has amounted to 6.57 billion pesos (141.4 million U.S. dollars).
