Maldives holds world's first underwater Cabinet meeting

Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed signs a declaration "SOS from the frontline" which was printed on a white plastic slate during a underwater cabinet meeting held in the turquoise lagoon off Girifushi Island, about 35 km northeast of the capital Male, Oct. 17, 2009. Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed, Vice President Mohamed Waheed and 11 cabinet ministers donned scuba gear and submerged four meters below the surface of sea to hold the world's first underwater cabinet meeting on Saturday, in a bid to push for a stronger climate change agreement in the upcoming UN climate summit in Copenhagen.[Xinhua]
