China's chief negotiator says China is willing to play a active and constructive role, in the climate talks, by making its emission cuts, reduction target, part of a binding agreement.

The UN-sponsored talks at Mexico's Cancun beach resort, hinge. on an agreement, to cement national emissions targets, after 2012 when the current Kyoto Protocol ones end.

The leader of the Chinese delegation, Xie Zhenhua, said that China's targets can be brought under the Convention, and developing countries can voluntarily use their own, national resources, to make their own voluntary emissions commitments, and these commitments should be under the Convention.

Xie added that the climate talks, must stick to the principle of cooperation and coordination. Developing nations, including China, want to continue the protocol while industrialized backers, including Japan, Russia and Canada... want a separate agreement regulating all nations.
