Chopstick trees to enhance environmental protection

Four chopstick trees showcased in a bustling Beijing shopping center are attracting plenty of attention. Greenpeace is using the display to raise people's awareness of environmental protection.

 

Volunteers collected thousands of disposable chopsticks, which are commonly used in China because they are cheap and readily available. Greenpeace hopes to make people reflect on the damage done to the country's forest resources by using disposable chopsticks. Many people say the stark patchwork trees inspired them to stop using one-time disposable chopsticks.
