More rain is forecast for flood-hit south China from Wednesday to Saturday, the nation's meteorological authority said on Tuesday.

The China Meteorological Administration (CMA) said heavy rain will hit most parts of south China including Yunnan, Sichuan, Guizhou, Hunan, Jiangxi, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangxi and Guangdong. Thunderstorms and hail are also expected in those areas.

The heavy rain that has triggered floods and landslides among other things, had left 175 dead and 107 missing by Monday, according to the Office of State Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters (OSFCDRH) and the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

The CMA would keep close watch on the situation and urged more efforts to prevent any secondary disasters, said the administration's spokesperson Chen Zhenlin.
