"I regret the fact that some NGOs decided to leave the COP19 climate conference to express their disapproval towards the extending negotiations," said President of COP19 Marcin Korolec.

He expressed his understanding over the decision of NGOs, saying that activities of non-governmental organizations are often thought to draw attention towards the issues perceived by them as important.

The closing meeting of the Warsaw Climate Change Conference which was scheduled to close on Friday was delayed due to disagreements among all Parties. A number of NGOs walked out of the UN climate talks on Thursday in a bid to convey their disappointment at what they say is the slow speed and lack of ambition of the climate negotiations in Warsaw.

"The climate conference and non-governmental organizations share common goals – all of us want to ensure effective climate protection," Korolec said. "Non-governmental observers have always mobilized negotiators to greater efforts and ambitions."

He pointed out that after all-night negotiations, all Parties involved have achieved considerable progress on climate finance. "The talks about the shape of a new global agreement were also held throughout the night. I am convinced that we are getting closer and closer to the final success," he said.

"I hope that the voice of NGOs will remain present in the discussion on how to solve the most important problems of our planet," he said.
