40 mln households improve conditions

Over the past five years, 40 million urban families across China have had their living conditions improved. That accounts for more than a quarter of the number of urban families in the country.

Last year, all of China's cities set up a low-rent housing system and the central government created a fund of 5.1 billion yuan for this program.

From 2002, the average construction area per person in an urban household has increased by 1 square meter every year reaching 28 square meters. Last year, all of China's cities set up a low-rent housing system and the central government created a fund of 5.1 billion yuan for this program. That will increase to 6.8 billion yuan this year.
