CPPCC presidium approves leadership list

The presidium of China's top political advisory body has held its third meeting and approved the candidates for the 11th CPPCC leadership.

The list included nominees for chairperson, vice chairpersons and secretary-general of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC, and members of the top political advisory body's Standing Committee.

These names will be submitted to tomorrow's CPPCC session for approval. The session also agreed on a draft resolution on the work report of the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee and a draft political resolution.

The drafts will be submitted to Friday's CPPCC's closing session for approval.

Du Qinglin, the head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee, explained the list of candidates.

The CPPCC is a patriotic united front organization of the Chinese people, that serves as a key mechanism for multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC, and is a major manifestation of socialist democracy.
