Adjust font size:

The 17th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) will hold its second plenary session in Beijing from Monday to Wednesday, the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee decided at a meeting on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by President Hu Jintao, also the general secretary of CPC Central Committee.

Participants also discussed a proposal on further deepening reform of the administrative system as well as a draft plan on restructuring central departments under the State Council.

Deepening government reform is an inevitable requirement for developing the socialist market economy and political democracy, the meeting concluded.

Government reform must be pushed forward unswervingly and implemented in phases with the aim of building an efficient and service-oriented government, the meeting agreed.
