CPC Central Committee plenum to be held in October

The Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee decided on Friday to hold the Third Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of the CPC in Beijing in October.

Main topic of the plenum is to study how to push forward reforms and development in rural areas, according to the CPC Political Bureau meeting on Friday.

The meeting was presided over by Hu Jintao, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee.

According to the meeting, efforts would be made to raise the comprehensive production capacity of agriculture, speed up development of public utility to ensure steady and fast economic and social development in rural areas.

The meeting also discussed the work plan for macroeconomic control during the second half of this year.
