Chinese Vice Premier Li Keqiang Friday urged experts to provide scientific foundations for policy-making with strategic research of sustained development of China's land and resources.

Li made the remarks at a meeting with scientists of the strategic research project of sustained development of China's land and resources.

Faced with the global financial crisis, researchers should monitor the global energy market, discuss the effects of environmental changes on China's economic development and offer countermeasures, Li said.

He urged them to deepen their research and provide sound guarantees for smooth, steady and more rapid economic development and the construction of a resource-conserving and environment-friendly society.

The strategic research of sustained development of China's land and resources is a national project jointly conducted by the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Chinese Academy of Engineering, the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Development Research Center of the State Council.
