MOC starts anti-dumping review on Taiwan company
Adjust font size:

The Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has started a review of anti-dumping measures on phenol from a Taiwan-based company, said the ministry in a statement released on Monday.

The statement said the review on Chang chun Plastics Co., Ltd., a phenol exporter in Taiwan, has begun on Monday and would end before Dec. 2, 2009.

According to Chinese laws, if a company in countries and regions under anti-dumping measures is able to prove it did not export products during previous probes or had no connection with companies involved in those probes, the MOC should carry out a review to decide the rate of anti-dumping duty on the company.

The MOC decided to impose anti-dumping duties on phenol from Japan, Republic of Korea, the United States and Taiwan from Feb. 1 of 2004.

On Jan. 14 this year, the Taiwan-based company filed an application to the ministry for a review, claiming it was eligible for a separate duty rate. The ministry approved the application and is set to carry out a review.

Phenol is a white hygroscopic mildly acidic crystalline solid, used in dilute form as an antiseptic and disinfectant.
