Reported cross-Straits military exchange 'inaccurate'

A Chinese mainland official said on Wednesday that the reported military exchange between mainland and Taiwan in Hawaii this August at a seminar organized by the United States military is "inaccurate".

Li Weiyi, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said at a press conference that military exchanges across the Straits are "an issue between the two sides."

"Military exchanges between the mainland and Taiwan could start from academic exchanges by experts in a mechanism of mutual trust in military security, or from exchanges between retired military servicemen," Li said.

The Office did not confirm to Xinhua whether China would send military personnel to the seminar or which part of the reported exchanges is inaccurate.
