Internal Security Act to be lifted Tuesday: official

The Internal Security Act (ISA) will be lifted on Tuesday as planned by the government, deputy government spokesman Supachai Jaisamut said Tuesday.

From Friday until Tuesday, the ISA law has been enforced in Dusit district in the center of capital Bangkok in a bid to ensure law and order during a mass anti-government rally on Sept. 19.

The mass anti-government rally, which was organized by the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship, ended on Saturday ' s midnight peacefully.

The government thanked soldiers and police, who smoothly helped manage the rally situation until it ended peacefully, the deputy spokesman said.
