Tibet re-elects top legislator, gov't chairman

Legqog was re-elected the top legislator of the Tibet Autonomous Region and Qiangba Puncog chairman of the regional government at the first session of the 9th Tibet Regional People's Congress, the legislature, here on Tuesday.

Legqog, born in 1944 of Tibetan nationality, was re-elected chairman of the Standing Committee of the Tibet Autonomous Regional People's Congress, or head of the regional legislative body. He has been in the post since 2003.

The congress heard the government work report, reviewed and approved the budget and elected government heads, among others.

Qiangba Puncog, born in 1947 of Tibetan nationality, was re-elected chairman of the government of the Tibet Autonomous Region, equivalent to a province governor. He has been in the post since 2003.
