Henan Province elects new leaders

Xu Guangchun was re-elected chairman of the Standing Committee of Henan Provincial People's Congress, or the province's top legislator, and Li Chengyu governor on Wednesday at its annual legislative session.

Xu, born in 1944, also serves as secretary of the Henan Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC). He has been heading the legislature since 2005.

He had previously served as deputy head of Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, director of State Administration of Radio, Film and Television.

Li, born in 1946, has been Henan's governor since 2003.
