The Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), China's top legislature, is willing to promote legislative exchanges and cooperation with its Danish counterpart, Folketing, said reports from the Danish capital of Copenhagen on Tuesday.

 

Li Tieying, vice chairman of the NPC Standing Committee who heads a NPC delegation to Denmark, remarked on Tuesday at a meeting with Deputy Danish Prime Minister Bendt Bendtsen, parliament speaker Christian Mejdahl and the parliament's first vice president Svend Auken.

 

Li said China and Denmark have made remarkable achievements in their cooperation in various fields and both sides still have great potential to develop the cooperation.

 

China's NPC attaches importance to its ties with Folketing and is ready to enhance bilateral legislative exchanges and cooperation, Li said.

 

The Danish officials spoke highly of relations with China, saying both the Danish parliament and the government have always attached importance to developing relations with China.

 

As economic globalization deepens, Denmark views China's rapid development as an important opportunity and wishes to upgrade bilateral economic and trade cooperation, promote mutual investment as well as strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of energy and environment protection, they added.

 

The NPC delegation arrived in Copenhagen on Monday for a four-day visit at the invitation of Folketing. They will also visit Sweden and Germany.
