Bangladesh Insists on One-China Policy

Bangladeshi Prime Minister Khaleda Zia said in Dhaka Wednesday that Bangladesh will always insist on one-China policy.

 

While meeting with visiting Communist Party of China (CPC) delegation led by Wang Jiarui, head of International Department of the CPC Central Committee, Zia, who is also the chairperson of ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), said Bangladesh and China have long time friendship. Bangladesh greatly cherishes the development of the friendly relationship with China.

 

Zia said Bangladesh admires very much the achievements China has achieved in the economic development. She hoped China can play an important role in maintaining regional stability and enhancing regional development.

 

Zia said BNP and CPC have always enjoyed good relationship. She hoped the two parties will continue to enlarge the exchange and cooperation.

 

Wang conveyed the best wishes by President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao as well as other top Chinese leaders.

 

Wang said the Chinese government and people have great concern on developing friendly and cooperative relationship with Bangladesh. The Chinese government thanked the Bangladeshi government for its support in regard to issues on human rights, Taiwan and Tibet.

 

Wang said CPC has great concern on developing relationship with the BNP. He hoped that the two parties will strength exchange and learn from each other.

 

The delegation arrived in Dhaka Monday on a three-day visit at the invitation of BNP. The delegation is scheduled to leave for Pakistan on Thursday.
