State Councilor Tang Jiaxuan said on Tuesday that China is ready to deepen cooperation with Algeria to benefit the peoples of the two countries.

China and Algeria are brothers who share hardships and dangers, mutually reliable friends and cooperative partners, said Tang while meeting with Algerian Minister of State of Foreign Affairs Mohamed Bedjaoui.

The Chinese government values the development of strategic cooperation between the two countries, said Tang.

Tang also hailed the traditional friendship of China-Africa relations, saying the upcoming summit of the China-Africa Cooperation Forum, will add more energy to the relations between China and the African continent.

Bedjaoui spoke highly of China's assistance to Africa, saying China's social and economic development has provided an important example and opportunity for the development of Africa.

Bedjaoui, a guest of Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, arrived in Beijing on Monday.

On Tuesday, Premier Wen Jiabao also met with Bedjaoui, exchanging views on bilateral relations and issues of mutual concern.
