Basescu: Romania to Promote Cooperation with China

Romanian President Traian Nicolae Basescu said in Bucharest Thursday that Romania would persistently promote cooperation with China in various fields, furthering the full-fledged friendly relations between the two countries.

 

The president made the remarks during his meeting with Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of China's National People's Congress (NPC).

 

Basescu said the relations between Romania and China has a long history and governments and parties of Romania all work to strengthen the bilateral ties.

 

He said that Romania adheres to the one-China policy.

 

Wu said that China regards Romania as a trusted friend and cooperative partner. He said that China appreciates Romania's position on the one-China policy.

 

The Chinese top legislator said that his visit aims at carrying out the common understandings reached between Chinese President Hu Jintao and Basescu during the later's visit to China over a month ago and pushing forward the full-fledged bilateral cooperation.

 

Wu hoped that the two sides work hard together to push the bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new high level.

 

Wu arrived here on Wednesday for a three-day official good-will visit to Romania, the first leg of his four-nation tour, which will also take him to Moldova, Greece and Russia.
