Yang Jiechi, visiting vice foreign minister, said in Buenos Aires Wednesday that the Chinese government had made as much effort as possible to boost trade cooperation with Argentina.

 

Yang, who arrived here on Wednesday, took part in the ninth session of the Bilateral Political Consultation Meeting in Argentina's San Martin Palace, the seat of the country's foreign ministry.

 

During the meeting, Yang and Roberto Garcia Moritan, his Argentine counterpart, analyzed the progress in bilateral relations since 2004: the year in which Hu Jintao, China's president, visited Argentina, and his Argentine counterpart, Nesto Kirchner, made a reciprocal visit to China.

 

Yang said China was keen to deepen and strengthen existing ties and boost trade, investment and tourism, adding that China's and Argentina's economies created many opportunities for cooperation and mutually beneficial initiatives.

 

Garcia said that Argentina would continue to adhere to the one-China policy and publicly thanked China for its support in international forums.
