Vice President Meets Belgian Guest

Vice President Zeng Qinghong met with Didier Reynders, president of Belgian Reformist Movement (BRM) on Monday in Beijing.

 

"The party relations are very important parts of the relations between the two states, and the Communist Party of China (CPC) is willing to further the relations with the BRM to push forward the China-Belgium partnership," Zeng told Reynders.

 

Zeng, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, highlighted the bilateral exchange and cooperation in fields of science and technology, finance, environmental protection, culture and education, expressing his appreciation of the BRM's coherence to the one-China policy.

 

Zeng also praised BRM's efforts to help promote the China-friendly policies of the Belgian government.

 

When on the China-EU relations, Zeng noted that China values its ties with the European Union (EU) and the 9th China-EU summit held in Finland in September was of great importance to the China-EU comprehensive and strategic partnership.

 

China and the EU share comprehensive common interests and China hopes to make joint efforts with the EU member states, including Belgium, to push forward the bilateral ties to a higher level, Zeng said.

 

Reynders, who is also Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, agreed with Zeng's views on the bilateral relations, expressing his pleasure that the BRM could exchange views with the CPC on various levels.

 

The BRM is committed to continue its endeavor to boost the friendly exchanges between the two parties in various fields and at various level in a bid to help the bilateral relations achieve new progress, Reynders said.

 

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, also met with Reynders prior to his meeting with Zeng.
