China Appreciates Colombia's Support on Taiwan Issue
Adjust font size:

Vice President Zeng Qinghong expressed his appreciation for Colombia's support on Taiwan issue in talks with his Colombian counterpart Francisco Santos Galderon on Tuesday.

Zeng spoke highly of the development of China-Colombia relations, saying the bilateral ties have witnessed healthy and stable development though the international situations underwent profound and complex changes in the past years.

"In recent years, China-Colombia relations have entered a period of comprehensive and rapid development," Zeng added.

Zeng proposed the two countries implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of the two countries during the visit by Colombian President Alvaro Uribe last year.

Santos reiterated Colombia's firm adherence to one-China policy, saying Colombia will work with China, a reliable friend, to advance bilateral relations.

Colombia appreciated China's understanding and support on multilateral affairs, said Santos.

Being his first China visit as Colombian vice president, Santos is scheduled to meet with Premier Wen Jiabao on Wednesday. Apart from Beijing, he will visit Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province, and Shanghai, China's economic powerhouse.
