China, Bulgaria Pledge to Further Parliamentary Exchanges

Top legislator Wu Bangguo met with visiting Bulgarian Prime Minister Sergei Stanishev on Tuesday, vowing to further parliamentary exchanges between the two countries.

 

"China's National People's Congress (NPC) will enhance cooperation with the Bulgarian parliament to learn from each other on legislation, supervision and governance," said Wu, chairman of the NPC Standing Committee, China's top legislature.

 

The NPC and Bulgarian parliament have maintained sound cooperation, which substantiates and inserts energy into the contents of bilateral relations, said Wu.

 

China and Bulgaria have treated each other in spirit of mutual understanding and equality, and supported each other on major issues of mutual concerns since the two countries established diplomatic ties, Wu added.

 

Stanishev reiterated China's adherence to one-China policy, pledging to make joint efforts with the Chinese side to lift bilateral ties to a new height.

 

Bulgaria supports exchanges and cooperation between parliaments of the two countries, Stanishev said.
