The Communist Part of China (CPC) and the European People's Party (EPP) on Wednesday expressed the common hope to develop dialogue and friendly exchanges.

Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said in a meeting with an EPP delegation led by president Wilfried Martens that the CPC values the important role of the EPP in promoting the integration of Europe and developing China-Europe relations.

Wang said the CPC would like to transcend ideological differences, and establish and enhance communication between the two parties to contribute to the sound and stable development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and the Europe.

Martens said his party attaches great importance to developing its relationship with China and would like to conduct political dialogue and friendly exchanges with the CPC.

This would contribute to the EPP's development, the integration of Europe, overall Europe-China relations and world peace and prosperity, Martens added.

This was the first EPP delegation to visit China.
