Adjust font size:

Visiting China's special envoy on Middle East issues Sun Bigan said in Jerusalem Monday that China hopes Israel and the Palestinians will lose no chance to resume comprehensive peace talks as soon as possible.

Sun made the remarks during his meeting with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni.

Hoping that Israeli-Palestinian peace talks would promote those between Israel and Arab states, he said that the current situation is faced with difficulties and a favorable turn for peace talks as well.

For her part, Livni expressed her appreciation of the development of Israeli-Chinese relations and China's efforts in promoting peace in the Middle East.

She said Israel is willing to promote Middle East peace process along with Arab countries and the international community.

Sun also met with Israeli senior officials, including Vice Premier Shimon Peres, and the families of some captured Israeli soldiers during his visit to Israel from Sunday to Monday.
