Wen Urges Cooperation with Greece in Economy, Culture, Olympics
Adjust font size:

Premier Wen Jiabao on Tuesday called for comprehensive cooperation with Greece especially in the economic and cultural fields and regarding the Olympic Games.

Meeting Anna Psarouda Benaki, President of the Greek Parliament, Premier Wen said Sino-Greek ties comprised frequent high-level exchanges, close legislative communication and two-way trade.

As this year marked the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations, and the "Year of Greece" would be staged in China next year, the two nations should enlarge and deepen cooperation so as to promote bilateral relations, Wen said.

Greece had hosted the Olympic Games in 2004 and China would host the 2008 Games, which provided important opportunities for both sides to enhance cooperation, Wen said.

Benaki, who is on a week-long visit to China as the guest of China's top legislator Wu Bangguo, said Greece would like to play an active role in developing relations.
