Adjust font size:

Kuwaiti Public Works Minister and State Minister for Municipal Affairs Moussa Al-Sarraf will commence on Saturday a tour to Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Singapore to learn seaports expertise, Kuwait News Agency reported on Friday.

The minister said the experience of the above-mentioned nations and areas in establishing and managing international seaports will be utilized for Kuwait's Boubyan Seaport project.

Al-Sarraf noted that the two-week visit will include meetings with numerous officials to benefit from their expertise in building and operating such ports.

The Ministry of Public Works has recently signed a contract to build a three-lane, 36-km road connecting Kuwait's mainland and Boubyan Island's seaport, he said, adding that a railroad will be established to connect that island's seaport with Kuwait's neighbors.

Located to the northeast of Kuwait City, Boubyan Island is the largest island of Kuwait, extending to 40 km with a width of 25-35km.
