China Donates Money to Flood Victims in N Korea
Adjust font size:

China on Wednesday donated US$50,000 to flood-hit areas in North Korea.

Xing Haiming, charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy, handed over the donation, provided by the Red Cross Society of China, to Kim En-chol, acting secretary-general of the Red Cross Society of North Korea.

Kim expressed thanks for the donation.

Severe flooding damaged more than 11 percent of farmland, destroyed about 46,580 houses and affected more than 300,000 people in North Korea earlier this month after heavy rains hit Pyongyang and six of the country's nine provinces, according to the official Korean Central News Agency.
