Adjust font size:

China's special envoy on the Middle East issue, Sun Bigan, Tuesday held separate talks with Lebanese Army Commander Gen. Michel Suleiman and Parliament majority leader Saad Hariri on bilateral relations and the current Lebanese situation.

During the talks, Sun said that China always attaches importance to its friendship with Lebanon and would like to promote bilateral friendly cooperation in all fields.

China supports Lebanese efforts to achieve sovereignty and territorial integrity, Sun said, adding that China would continue providing all it could to help Lebanese reconstruction.

The envoy also exchanged views with Suleiman and Hariri respectively about the current situation in Lebanon.

He expressed appreciation to all sides concerned for they pay attention to Lebanese national interests and adhere to talks and negotiations in a bid to maintain internal solidarity and stabilization.

During his four-day stay in Lebanon, Sun will visit Chinese peacekeeping force in the UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), quartered at the south.

The envoy, who arrived in Beirut earlier Tuesday after attending a donors conference for the Palestinians on Monday in Paris, will also visit Israel, the Palestinian territory and Syria.
