China, Benin celebrate 35th anniversary of resuming diplomatic ties

A reception was held here Friday to mark the 35th anniversary of the resumption of diplomatic ties between China and Benin.

Feng Zuoku, vice president of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, said China and Benin had witnessed smooth development of bilateral relations since resuming diplomatic ties in 1972.

The two nations increased mutual understanding and trust and made fruitful cooperation in various fields, Feng said, extending appreciation to the Beninese government's unswerving adherence to the one-China policy.

Feng said China was ready to work with Benin and other African nations to push for the bilateral relations.

Beninese ambassador to China Sedozan Jean-Claude Apithy said Benin and China had enjoyed satisfying and smooth growth of bilateral relations in the past 35 years.

He said the two nations witnessed frequent high level visits and fruitful cooperation in economy and trade. The ambassador also expressed appreciation for China's help to Benin.
