The Uruguayan government will stick to the one-China policy, Foreign Minister Reinaldo Gargano has reaffirmed.

Gargano made the remarks Tuesday when attending a ceremony at the Chinese embassy to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries.

He also paid tribute to the years of sustained growth of China's economy, saying the industriousness of the Chinese people and the leadership of the Chinese government are models for the world.

Li Zhongliang, Chinese ambassador, vowed to further promote the political, economic and cultural exchanges between the countries.
