Cameroon's President Paul Biya met with Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, in Yaounde on Thursday to discuss bilateral ties.

Biya, also president of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement, said Cameroon-China ties have set a good example of state-to-state relations since the two nations forged a diplomatic relationship 37 years ago.

The cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and trade, society and culture becomes increasingly closer and is extremely satisfying, he said.

Biya appreciated the sincere assistance China has given to his country, saying that Cameroon will spare no efforts in strengthening relations between the ruling parties of the two countries and promoting the development of bilateral ties.

He also reiterated that Cameroon will continue to adhere to the one-China policy and said that human rights could not be used as an excuse to intervene in the internal affairs of other countries.

Wang spoke highly of the important contributions by Cameroon in developing the China-Cameroon friendship, saying that China and Cameroon enjoy a profound traditional friendship and Cameroon is an important partner of China.

The Communist Party of China and the Chinese government praised Cameroon's ruling party for attaching great importance to its ties with China, insisting on the one-China policy and closely cooperating in international affairs with China, Wang added.

He said China is willing to work with Cameroon to promote cooperation between the two ruling parties, governments and peoples and make contributions to establishing a new type of China-Africa strategic partnership.

Wang also expressed his appreciation for Biya's and the Cameroonian government's help in withdrawing overseas Chinese from Chad.

Wang, who heads a CPC delegation, arrived in Yaounde Wednesday afternoon at the invitation of the Cameroon People's Democratic Movement.
