China, US discuss bilateral cooperation

Chinese Vice Premier and President Hu Jintao's Special Representative Wang Qishan and US Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson, special envoy of President George W. Bush, Tuesday discussed the upcoming Fifth China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue and bilateral cooperation.

In a telephone conversation, the two sides exchanged views on enhancing bilateral cooperation, jointly coping with the ongoing world financial crisis, pushing forward the Doha round of trade negotiations and fighting global trade protectionism.

They spoke highly of the positive results of the China-US Strategic Economic Dialogue and agreed to put into action the consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, to prepare well to ensure the success of the Fifth China-US Economic Dialogue and to promote the continued development of economic and trade ties and the constructive cooperation between the two countries.
