China, Vietnam discuss closer military cooperation
Adjust font size:

China will actively enhance military cooperation with Vietnam, Chen Bingde, chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, said in Beijing on Tuesday.

In a meeting with the visiting chief of the General Staff of the Vietnamese People's Army, Nguyen Khac Nghien, Chen said Sino-Vietnam military cooperation had deepened in every aspect in recent years.

"China is ready to make its contribution to promote cooperation with Vietnam," he added.

Nguyen Khac Nghien agreed to work with China to step up bilateral military relations.

China and Vietnam issued a joint statement in October in which the two sides vowed to promote the bilateral comprehensive strategic partnership.

Founded on September 2, 1945, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam established diplomatic ties with China on January 18, 1950.
