PM: Nepal upholds 'One-China policy'

Nepali Prime Minister Prachanda Wednesday said that Nepal has always been upholding "One China policy" and not allowing Nepali soil to be used as against its close and friendly neighbor, China.

Meeting with visiting Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in Kathmandu, Prachanda expressed his sincere thanks to the government of China for providing support to promote economic and social development in Nepal over the last many years.

Prachanda also stressed Nepal's commitment to support China's efforts in protecting its sovereignty, security and territorial integrity.

During the meeting, Yang Jiechi said China and Nepal are good and close neighbors and friends. The two countries are always respecting, trusting and supporting each other.

Lauding the help provided by the government of Nepal in making the Beijing Olympics successful, Yang also expressed thanks for Nepali government's stand on Tibetan and Taiwan issues.

The Chinese foreign minister made it clear that China was ready to extend full support for national peace, political stability and economic development in Nepal.

The Chinese foreign minister arrived in Kathmandu on Tuesday evening for a three-day official visit to Nepal.
