Albania would unswervingly adhere to a One China policy and push the friendly cooperation between Albania and China to a new level, Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha said Wednesday.

"Albania attaches great importance to developing bilateral relations with China, and our two countries have been enjoying a traditional friendly relationship during the past 60 years," Berisha said in his meeting with Chinese Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs Wu Hongbo.

Berisha highly praised China's role on the world stage. He said China is one of the key factors in international affairs and is playing a crucial role in preserving peace and stability.

The year 2009 will see the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Albania. Berisha said the two countries can use celebrations of the event as an opportunity to boost cooperation in all fields.

Wu said that China cherishes its traditional friendship with Albania, and always regards Albania as a good friend and a good partner in south-eastern Europe.

China, Wu said, would like to strengthen its friendly cooperation with Albania and to push the relationship between the two countries to a new level through joint efforts.
