Grenadian Prime Minister and the country's ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party leader Tillman Thomas met on Monday with a senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC), vowing to promote relations between the two countries and the two parties.

During the talks held in St. George's, Grenada's capital, Wang Jiarui, head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, said since their diplomatic ties were re-established four years ago, China and Grenada have seen continuous growth of friendship, and fruitful cooperation in fields of politics, economy and trade, education, tourism as well as medical treatment.

The CPC attaches importance to its relations with the NDC and stands ready to deepen exchanges and cooperation between the two parties and promote a healthy and stable development of bilateral ties on the basis of the four principles for inter-party relations, Wang said.

Thomas, for his part, said Grenada always cherishes its friendly cooperation with China and is willing to join hands with China to push forward bilateral relations.

He said his party and government will firmly adhere to the one-China policy.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on the ongoing international financial crisis.

Wang Jiarui, with his CPC delegation, arrived in Grenada on Sunday for a good-will visit at the invitation by the Grenadian ruling party.
