Uruguayan president arrives for China visit

Uruguayan President Tabare Vazquez arrived in Beijing Saturday morning for a six-day state visit to China at the invitation of Chinese President Hu Jintao.

This is President Vazquez's first visit to China since he took office in 2005.

During Vazquez 's stay, Hu Jintao is scheduled to hold talks with him. Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo and Premier Wen Jiabao will meet with him.

Vazquez will visit Shanghai on March 24 following his stay in Beijing.
