China, Japan hold new round of security dialogue
Adjust font size:

China and Japan vowed to work together on antipiracy missions in waters off Somalia and other peacekeeping operations and disaster relief in their new round of security dialogue held in Tokyo Friday.

The two sides also discussed response amid tensions over Democratic People's Republic of Korea's imminent rocket launch, a Japanese Foreign Ministry official told reporters.

The Japanese side was represented by Deputy Foreign Minister Kenichiro Sasae, Defense Ministry councillor Yoshiyuki Suzuki and other officials. The Chinese delegation was led by Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue.

Friday's talks were the 11th round of the Japan-China security dialogue, which was first held in December 1993.
