The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK)'s firing a pair of short-range missiles was detected on the east coast of the Korean Peninsula on Tuesday, South Korea' s Yonhap News Agency reported.

The DPRK fired two short-range missiles to the East Sea from a site near Hamheung in the Southern Hamkyong Province, Yonhap said, citing its source in the South Korean government.

"South Korea's information agency is now working on to analyze the DPRK's underlying intentions," Yonhap added.

The fired missiles are known to be short-range devices, which could fly up to some 130 km, according to Yonhap.

A South Korean defense source said earlier Tuesday that the DPRK showed an apparent preparation for short-range missile test near the waters off the northwestern coast.

On Monday, the DPRK fired three short-range missiles, one around the noon and two later in the afternoon, on its east coast hours after it announced it "successfully" conducted its second atomic test.
