China and Russia will hold a military exercise later in 2009, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang Tuesday.

"The two countries are working closely for the military exercise dubbed Peace Mission 2009," Qin told a regular press conference, without specifying a date.

China and Russia held their first joint exercise in 2005.
